Voice from participant of ILDC2025 – Pijon
What are the key learnings from ILDC?
1. Importance of Sharing
One of my biggest takeaways from the training was the importance of openly sharing our thoughts. During the Course, any decisions were made by respecting each participant’s feelings and ideas.
As a representative of my organization, I have always tried to be friendly to my staff and CBO members. But I realized that I had not been asking for their opinions very much. ILDC taught me that even those who appear quiet or unsure always have ideas that are worth hearing.
Just like I was encouraged by other participants during ILDC, I am recently trying to tell my colleagues, “Don’t worry about making mistakes—just say anything! Take your time; let’s talk it through.”
2. Experiencing the Shift in Training Ownership
Another learning was experiencing firsthand how the ownership of the training gradually shifted to the participants. In the early stages—during the online preparatory meetings and even the first week—our coordinators led most of the sessions.
However, since the second week, things began to change. We identified our learning needs, then discussed what topics we wanted to learn. Soon, the roles of moderator and presenter were all taken on by the participants.
Through this process, we found ourselves naturally taking charge of the training. It became clear that this was our program. Although I had heard about this before the Course, I truly understood its meaning after I experienced it.
How is your action plan going?
Due to my hectic schedule, I have not been able to share and discuss my action plans with my staff and CBO members. However. I am very confident, because I already learned how to work in a team. I will take a step-by-step process for implementing my action plan by sharing in our regular meeting with them.
